I always have too many ideas running through my head to be able to create them all, but as an artist I have 2 passions, taking photographs and working with glass. Both passions resonate my love of capturing the play of light to define color, space or time. Even though these are the mediums that I am most passionate about, I like to create fun and funky jewelry with metal clays, and am finding my way into sandblasting on glass. All I can say, is there just isn't enough time in this life time for this creative soul!
As a glass artist, I am intrigued and fascinated with negative space. I love to make colors and shapes seemingly float in and through my fused glass art. I use clear glass to create a sense of depth and space; both, a big part of who I am, and where my creative energy is born.
My favorite thing to make is something that will be interacted with everyday, instead of something that only gets dusted once in a while. I enjoy making clocks, serving dishes, snack trays, mirrors and custom hardware.
As a photographer, I find that my photographic eye is always drawn to the abstract. But within my photographs, 2 distinct interests keep emerging. One interest reveals how light can expose the abstract in nature; the other interest is revealing the lapse of time through motion and shadows.
I love my audience to be wowed by the complexity found in the simplest things, such as the precision stitching of a spider’s web that can only be appreciated with just the right light. I also want my audience to stop and wonder about the essence of time and the actions that have occurred, or what will occur; things such as the shading that grows in the gradual carving of sand as the high tide slowly becomes low tide.
